How to Make a Crochet Nappy Cake

Create a beautiful baby gift that doubles as the centerpiece for a baby shower. Soft and cuddly crocheted toys, bib, booties, edgings, bottle covers and more are combined with purchased cloth and disposable diapers (called “nappies” in Europe) to create a gorgeous tiered cake that will be the highlight of a shower.

This colorful cake is made by first arranging about 85 disposable diapers. Then the cake is “frosted” with crochet-trimmed baby blankets, crochet baby toys, bibs, bottle covers, booties, tiny crocheted roses and as many purchased and crocheted baby products as you wish to add.

Size

Cake shown is about 18” tall. Bottom layer is 14” across.

Materials

Baby yarn used throughout this project is Bernat Baby Coordinates. Other brands of baby yarn and any color scheme may be used. Colors used for this project are #1000 White, #1001 Pink, #1008 Baby
