Hope Valley cap

Using just two colors, the Hope Valley cap is an excellent pattern for the adventurous beginner to color work, and a fun knit for anyone looking for a speedy project.

I highly recommend Harrisville Design's Flywheel yarn for this cap. It has beautiful depth, is warm and inviting, and fills in color work beautifully with a lukewarm soak and gentle blocking.

Knitting begins using a long-tail cast-on and 1x1 twisted rib. The body of the hat contains charted repeats, and the crown is shaped using tidy double decreases, revealing a star.

When knitted to the pattern's gauge and size, it's possible to make TWO hats with the required two skeins of Flywheel when you reverse the colors for the second hat! Just weigh both skeins before and after your first finished hat to be sure you'll have enough for a second.
