This is an original Halloween-themed tea cosy design created by independent designer Alison Davis, specifically sized to fit a 2.5 pint teapot. The witch tea cosy combines festive seasonal styling with practical functionality, providing insulation for your teapot while adding decorative charm to your kitchen or dining table.

Craft and Primary Technique

This project is a knitting pattern that uses a combination of knitting techniques to construct the cosy. The design employs a two-strand knitting method for the main body, which creates a thicker, more insulating fabric suitable for holding heat around a teapot. The pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for knitters with some experience beyond absolute beginner level.

Stitches and Construction Methods

The pattern utilizes fundamental knitting stitches and techniques including:

• Stocking stitch (SS) as the primary fabric construction
• Knit (K) and purl (P) stitches for creating the base fabric
• Knit two stitches together (K2tog) and purl two stitches together (P2tog) for decreasing stitches and shaping
• Increases worked by knitting into the front and back of stitches to add stitches where needed
