From the Fields

This pretty lace shawl is inspired by research I did about the Viking farms in 10th century Iceland -- a place of breathtaking beauty. A world where Norse gods are real and women's dyepots overflow with lichens and birch leaves. I write novels set in that place and time, and From the Fields is a shawl for my character Ginn in my novel Beautiful Wreck, who cuts fields of grass with a scythe. The shawl has:

• A simple lace repeat, memorizable by most knitters
• Written pattern; no chart
• Two versions: a 2-color shawl, or 1-skein shawlette
