What Is Being Made

The pattern covers three distinct knitted pieces that together form a complete Easter-themed gift or display set:

• Easter Bunny – a standing stuffed rabbit toy, approximately 27cm tall
• Chick – a small stuffed bird toy, approximately 17cm tall
• Carrot – a decorative knitted carrot, approximately 9cm long excluding the leaf top

All three pieces are knitted and then stuffed with toy filling to create soft, three-dimensional figures. The bunny features a 4cm pompom tail, and both the bunny and chick are finished with 7mm domed black button eyes and black embroidery thread details for added character and expression.

Yarn and Materials

The pattern calls for Deramores Baby Soft DK yarn, a DK weight acrylic yarn known for its soft, baby-friendly texture and vibrant colour range. The following shades are used across the three designs:

• Snow (1 x 100g ball) – used for the bunny's body
• Apple (1 x 100g ball) – used for the carrot leaves and other green details
• Primrose (1 x 100g ball) – a soft yellow, used for the chick
• Pebble (1 x 100g ball) – a neutral tone for contrast details
• Sunset (1 x 100g ball) – a warm orange, used for the carrot

The use of Deramores Baby Soft DK acrylic makes these toys practical as well as appealing — acrylic yarn is durable, machine washable, and holds its shape well when stuffed, all important qualities in a finished toy.

Needles and Tools Required

• A pair of 3.5mm straight knitting needles (US 4), minimum length 20cm
• A pair of 3.5mm double pointed needles (DPNs) (US 4), minimum length 10cm
• Approximately 200g of toy filling for stuffing all three pieces
• A darning or tapestry needle for seaming and sewing pieces together
• Four 7mm domed black buttons for eyes (two per toy)
• A stitch holder
• A 4cm pompom maker for the bunny's tail
• Black embroidery thread or floss (less than 1 metre) for facial features
• Pins for assembling the pieces during making up

Tension

The recommended tension is 22 stitches x 28 rows over a 10cm x 10cm square worked in stockinette stitch on 3.5mm needles. Achieving the correct tension is particularly important in toy knitting, as it affects the final size of each piece and ensures the stuffing does not show through gaps in the fabric.
