It really depends on your own personal tension so it can help to try your hat on as you work. Crocodile stitch is worked using a 6 stitch repeat so you can also go up or down a size by increasing the first row stitch count by 6 or reducing it by 6. This will change how to make the crown reduction for your hat. I have added optional crown reductions for 1 repeat larger and 1 repeat smaller at the end of the instructions.
