Product Description
Hello..... here is my pattern for a Classic Beanie (Hat) Crochet Pattern – called > “Daisy Days Hat” worked in a size 5:00 mm (UK 6 - US H/8) hook. But of course you could adapt and use a larger size hook if you wish. The hat is worked as a rectangle, then sewn folded in half into a hat shape! This Beanie/Hat is so stretchy and comfy to wear. You have the option to wear it slouchy with the brim folded down or for a tighter fitting with the brim folded up for extra warmth for your ears. I’ve created and added 8 sizes you can choose from. It’s an easy, relaxing project to do. [I used USA Spotsaver Yarn] And Paintbox Aran Yarn.

What Is Being Made
The Daisy Days Hat is a classic crochet beanie designed by by.Meadow.Daisies, available in 8 different sizes ranging from newborn to adult. This versatile hat is constructed by crocheting a rectangle that is then folded in half and sewn together to create the finished hat shape. The design offers flexible styling options, allowing the wearer to fold the brim down for a slouchy look or fold it up for a tighter fit that provides extra warmth around the ears.
Crochet Techniques Used
The Daisy Days Hat employs fundamental crochet techniques suitable for beginners. The primary construction method involves working in rows to create a rectangular base piece. The pattern utilizes the back loop only technique, which creates a distinctive textured appearance and adds visual interest to the finished hat. Once the rectangle is complete, basic sewing techniques are used to join the edges and shape the hat into its final form.
Stitches Used
- Chain (Ch) – Used to create the foundation and turning chains throughout the pattern
- Half Double Crochet (Hdc) – The primary stitch used for the body of the hat, creating a dense, stretchy fabric
- Half Double Crochet Back Loop Only (Hdc blo) – Applied to create textured rows with visual definition
- Slip Stitch (Ss) – Used for joining and finishing edges
Materials and Tools
The Daisy Days Hat is worked using worsted weight yarn (also classified as Aran or 10 ply), with yardage requirements ranging from approximately 70 to 270 yards depending on the size selected. A USA H/8 (5.00mm) crochet hook is recommended for achieving the proper gauge of 17 stitches by 23 rows. Additional materials include a yarn or tapestry needle for seaming and weaving in ends, scissors, and a tape measure for accurate sizing. The pattern notes that USA Spotsaver Yarn was used in the original design. An optional pom pom can be added to the crown for decorative embellishment. The pattern is written in US crochet terms and includes eight size options to accommodate different age groups and head sizes.
Difficulty Level
This project is rated as beginner level, making it an ideal choice for those new to crochet or seeking a relaxing, straightforward project. The simple stitch combinations and basic construction method create an accessible pattern that produces a professional-looking, wearable result.
