Product Description
Hello, and thank you so much for considering my “Daisy Days”- (all day bag) pattern, written in UK/AUS terms. My “Daisy Days” bag pattern, was originally created to use in the supermarkets or just casual (all day usage, anywhere) doing away with plastic! Cotton was used for this bag. I’ve found cotton to be a more suitable yarn to use for bags, as they stretch less than acrylic, or cotton blends. Cotton is also a natural fibre i prefer to use in most of my crochet. I used nearly 3x 50gram balls of yarn. The measurement for the finished bag was approximately 12 in (30cm) x 10 in (26cm). All the best and enjoy! Daisy

Project Overview
The Daisy Days All Day Bag is a beginner-friendly crochet project designed as a practical, reusable alternative to single-use plastic bags. This downloadable pattern creates a functional everyday carryall suitable for shopping trips and casual daily use. The design draws inspiration from the traditional dilly bag, a culturally significant Indigenous Australian woven bag historically used for food transportation and preparation. The Daisy Days pattern reimagines this concept using modern crochet techniques and contemporary materials.
What You'll Make
This pattern produces a structured tote-style bag with finished dimensions of approximately 12 inches (30 centimeters) wide by 10 inches (26 centimeters) tall. The bag is sized for everyday carrying needs, making it ideal for grocery shopping, errands, and general daily activities. Its practical proportions and sturdy construction make it a sustainable choice for reducing plastic bag consumption.
Crochet Techniques and Stitches
The Daisy Days pattern features an adapted V stitch as its primary construction method. This stitch creates an open, textured fabric that is both visually interesting and structurally sound for bag construction. The V stitch technique is well-suited to beginner crocheters, as it builds confidence while producing professional-looking results. The pattern uses standard crochet abbreviations, including chain stitches (ch), which form the foundation of the project.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The pattern calls for approximately 3 balls of 50-gram yarn, totaling roughly 150 grams of material. The designer recommends Flinders 100% Cotton 8 ply yarn for optimal results. Cotton is specifically chosen for bag projects because it resists stretching better than acrylic or cotton blend alternatives, ensuring the finished bag maintains its shape and structure through regular use. As a natural fiber, cotton also aligns with the sustainable, eco-conscious purpose of creating a reusable bag. The DK weight yarn works with standard crochet hooks appropriate for this yarn weight.
Difficulty Level
Rated as a beginner project, the Daisy Days All Day Bag is accessible to crocheters new to the craft while still producing a functional, attractive finished item. The straightforward V stitch construction and clear pattern instructions make this an excellent choice for building foundational crochet skills.
Pattern Format
This pattern is provided as a downloadable PDF document written in UK and Australian crochet terminology, ensuring clarity for crocheters in these regions while remaining accessible to international crafters familiar with these standard terms.
