Custard Pixie Hats

A super pretty, vintage inspired crocheted pixie hat for toddlers that uses just one ball (50g) of DK weight yarn.

Two options are available for this pixie hat, with full pattern details given for both.

Make the original banana custard version (from 2015) which includes staggered decreases at the back to create a cute and whimsical pointed elf top.

Alternatively, new for 2026, make the pink custard version which is the same lovely stitch pattern but with no decreases at the back thus creating a smooth and flat back seam - a bit less quirky but gorgeous nonetheless.

The pattern is easy to make and uses under 50g of DK weight yarn, a great idea for gifting.
