These elegant, fingerless mittens are worked entirely in slip stitches, using the back loop only slip stitch. The cable is worked horizontally - a technique that I invented.

The pattern includes written instructions and step-by-step picture tutorials for * the back loop only slip stitch, * short rows, * horizontal cables * and for an invisible seam. It has symmetrical right hand and left hand cable patterns. The pattern includes directions on color changes. Instructions are given to adjust the size to larger hands, in particular how to make a larger thumbhole.

skills: The pattern is self-contained. All stitches and techniques you need to know to crochet the mittens are explained with step-by-step picture tutorials. Still, it helps if you practice horizontal cables before you start with the mittens.
