Child’s Saxon Braid Cable Sweater Set

This classic worsted weight cable sweater set in child sizes 2, 4 and 6 is perfect for cool weather. The sweater features a traditional Saxon Braid cable at the center and Wheat Ear cables at each side. The matching watch cap is a circle of Wheat Ear cables.

The sweater has raglan sleeves and comfortable shawl collar. The samples are knit in readily available Red Heart Super Saver®, though any similar weight yarn can be used. The pattern has individual written sweater instructions and complete charts for each size. The sweater body is knit on straight needles, the shawl collar back and forth on a 24" or longer circular needle, and the hat on a 16" circular with double pointed needles for decreases. (The Magic Loop can be substituted for both circular needles.)

The cable has an 8-row repeat. Only 4 cable crossing are used — crossing 2 stitches to the RIGHT over a knit or purl background, and crossing 2 stitches to the LEFT over a knit or purl background.
