Product Description
This is a corner to corner crochet version of my Letter A chart, this version includes a c2c picture chart and a colour-coded written version for those who prefer to follow worded instructions. I have also included a "how to corner to corner crochet" guide for those who might not have crocheted an image. The guide also has a border option for those who may want to add a decorative edge to their finished blanket.
The finished blanket will be a different size depending on the yarn you use (using 4ply gives you a lovely baby blanket size)

C2C Letter A Corner to Corner Blanket
Project Overview
This is a corner to corner (C2C) crochet blanket featuring a large capital letter A design, created by designer EJHeywood of Instarsia. The project uses a graphical chart system that allows crafters to work from corner to corner in a structured, pixel-based pattern. This downloadable PDF provides a complete picture chart for executing the design in crochet.
What is Being Made
A blanket or throw worked using the corner to corner crochet technique. The finished piece will display a bold letter A motif in contrasting colors. The chart indicates a finished size of approximately 82 rows by 39 stitches wide, creating a rectangular blanket suitable for decorative or functional use.
Crochet Technique: Corner to Corner (C2C)
Corner to corner crochet is an intermediate-level technique where the blanket is constructed diagonally, beginning at one corner and working toward the opposite corner. This method uses a grid-based approach, with each square on the chart representing a single crochet block. The crafter builds the blanket systematically, increasing stitches on one edge and decreasing on the other to create the diagonal expansion and contraction pattern.
The C2C method is popular because it allows for pixel art-style designs to be translated into crochet fabric. The structured nature of the technique makes it easier to follow complex color patterns and create clean, geometric designs like letters and images.
Stitches and Construction
Corner to corner crochet typically employs double crochet stitches as the primary stitch, worked in small blocks or clusters. The pattern chart provided uses a color-coded grid system where each square represents a stitch block, with different colors indicating where yarn color changes should occur. This blanket uses two colors: White and Aqua (color codes 962 and 754), creating clear contrast for the letter A design.
Materials Required
This project is worked in DK weight yarn, a medium-weight yarn that creates a balanced fabric with good drape and structure. A crochet hook appropriate for DK yarn (typically a size E/3.5mm to F/3.75mm) will be needed. The specific yardage requirements are not listed in the provided materials, but the chart dimensions suggest a medium-sized blanket suitable for a lap throw or baby blanket.
Difficulty Level
This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty. While corner to corner crochet itself is a learnable technique, executing a multi-color design with color changes requires attention to detail and familiarity with managing yarn colors throughout the project. Crafters should be comfortable with basic crochet stitches and color changes before attempting this pattern.
Pattern Format and Usage
The design is provided as a downloadable PDF picture chart. The chart uses a numbered grid system (numbered 1-82 horizontally and 1-82 vertically) to guide the crafter through each row and column of the design. The Instarsia designer notes that these charts are interchangeable and can be used for knitting or crochet, offering versatility for different fiber crafts. Additional patterns in the same style are available on the Instarsia website.
