Product Description
This design began as a stitch pattern rather than an idea for a garment. I was playing with a combination of stitches, trying to create a fabric reminiscent of the raindrops that represent our West Coast winters. My original submission became what is now the published Wellington hat. Amanda and Fiona, loving the raindrop pattern stitch, asked if I could design a garment with it.
I set out to create a cozy, grandfather-type cardigan with a lengthy body and sleeves for a sweater you could live in. Pairing this silhouette with the luminescent qualities of Sweet Fiber’s neutral colourway Paper Birch resulted in a finished garment that literally gleams as raindrops would.

Sweet Fiber Merino Twist Worsted (100% superwash merino; 200yds/183m per 115g skein); color: Paper Birch; 6 (7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9, 10) skeins
32-inch US #6/4mm circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
1 set US #6/4mm double-point needles, or preferred method for working small circumference
