Basic Brioche Hat

This hat is worked in brioche pattern and can be worn with a slouch or as a beanie with a folded brim. Using dk weight yarn, this project does not require a lot of time to finish. You can even choose between single color or two-color brioche!

As the brioche stitch is very stretchy, this pattern features only one size that fits most. The hat measures 37cm (14 ½ inch) in circumference and easily stretches to 60 cm (23 ½ inch).

The samples have been worked using a chainette yarn. The airy texture of those yarns result in a very lightweight hat. Of course you can use any regular plied yarn that matches the gauge. You could also hold two fingering weight yarns together to get a dk weight – how about purging your left-over sock yarn stash and make a very colorful version?
