Stitches and Construction Methods

The primary stitch used throughout this design is stocking stitch (also called stockinette stitch), which creates a smooth, classic fabric with distinctive V-shaped columns on the right side. Stocking stitch is achieved by alternating knit and purl rows, producing a refined appearance ideal for sweater construction. The pattern also incorporates stitch holders during construction, which are used to temporarily hold stitches—typically at the neckline and armholes—while other sections are being completed before final assembly.

Yarn and Materials

This sweater is knitted using King Cole Fashion Aran yarn, a medium-weight aran-weight yarn that provides structure and warmth. Each 100g ball contains 200 metres (219 yards) of yarn. The pattern calls for two complementary shades: Kintyre 318 (A) as the primary color, requiring 5, 5, 5, 6, or 6 balls depending on size; and Islay 438 (B) as a secondary color, requiring 2, 2, 2, 2, or 3 balls depending on size. Needles and Tools
