Product Description
Barmah is an Australian Aboriginal word meaning “meeting place”. I felt this was an apt name for this shawl with its trio of colours meeting along the way. Barmah knits up quickly in a DK weight yarn, for a cosy and satisfying project. Worked from the top down, the repeats are easily adjusted to make the most of your yardage. Choose 3 colours from the same family for an ombre effect, or go wild and create a technicolour dream-version.
Suitable for advanced beginner knitters.
YARN DK weight / 8 ply, Colours A and B (CA, CB) 210 yds / 192m per colour, Colour C (CC) 185 yds / 170m
Samples shown in: Madelinetosh DK Twist (100% merino, 250 yds / 229m per 100 g skein), Gossamer, Night Bloom & Purple Basil.
Suggested substitutes are shown below.
GAUGE 15 sts and 36 rows = 4” / 10cm in garter st. (blocked)
Gauge is not crucial for this project; however, variations in gauge will affect yardage and final dimensions
