Baby to Toddler Cable Cardigan Set

This adorable Irish knit set features a cardigan sweater, hat and fingerless mittens. Choose from 3 cable patterns (Double Rope, Honeycomb or Oxox) using 2 types of crossings, C2L (cross 2 stitches to left) and C2R (cross 2 stitches to right). Crossings are made every 4th row, leaving 3 rows for plains knits and purls.

The sizes range from Baby to Toddler, but the various sizes are achieved by the type of yarn and its gauge and not by the number of stitches. A fine or light weight yarn will make a sweater set for a baby, while a worsted weight will result in an outfit for a toddler. Choose a plain plied yarn to best display the cable patterns. The outfits in the samples are knit in readily available acrylic sport and worsted weights. You don’t need an expensive yarn to produce a spectacular result.

This set is knit on straight needles. Your yarn wrapper will show the suggested needle size for your yarn. You will also need a cable needle, 5 stitch holders, tapestry needle and 7 buttons.
