Baby Socks Knitting Pattern Snoo's Knits

These socks are designed to fit newborn babies. The basic pattern is the same, but each pair has different techniques worked in to add variety to your sock drawer.

The pattern is written in an ordinary “k5, ssk, k2…” format. You don’t have to wrangle with any instructions like “knit to 2 sts before turn gap."

Difficulty: It’s best if you’ve tried knitting socks before, but for brave first-timers or those who are rusty on the methods, we include a quick reminder tutorial.

Stitches used: k2tog, p2tog, sl1k, sl1p, ssk, sl1k2psso, yfwd, and a couple of special stitches explained in the pattern.

You will need:

• Sock yarn [4 ply, “sport weight”], approx 20g per pair. Ideally, use yarn that is designed for socks and has nylon in. Example: Regia 4-ply. Tension square: 10cm x 10cm square is 30 stitches across and 42 rows.

• Set of four 2.25mm double-pointed needles (DPNs)

• Set of four 2.75mm DPNs (for eyelet socks only)

• 2.25mm cable needle

• Short length of thin ribbon

• Tapestry needle
