Pattern Inspiration
In the winter of 2025/2026, I was captivated by Milli’s, from Tribe Yarns, solo row across the Atlantic. It both terrified and inspired me! I thought I would like to design something in honour of this heroic and pretty bad-ass adventure. The cables represent never-ending wavelets running across oceans, and the rhythmic German Short rows represent the continuous rowing! To reflect the unique nature of this row, the construction of the shawl is a little unusual.
Pattern Overview
You begin by casting on all of the stitches along the bottom edge of the shawl. The point is then shaped with central double decreases, and the body is worked with a series of German Short rows. I’ll warn you that knitting this shawl gets addictive! So far, I have not been able to find a shawl constructed in this way. Please let me know if, and where, you have seen a construction like this before - I am very interested!
