Best ever knitting website
So many little girls have just come into my life so thought I would make them a wardrobe of clothes from your patterns. They have turned out well and knit up quickly.
This pattern is knitted in DK yarn, with easy to follow instructions for a complete wardrobe of clothes to fit an average 14" (36cms) doll.
Patterns include, jumper, skirt, dress, vest, panties, onesies, cardigan and skirt.
This comprehensive downloadable PDF contains a complete wardrobe collection of nine knitted garments designed specifically for 14-inch (36cm) dolls. Created by designer Eileen Webb, this intermediate-level knitting project provides patterns for a versatile set of doll clothes that can be mixed and matched to create multiple outfit combinations.
These patterns employ intermediate-level knitting techniques suitable for crafters with foundational knitting experience. The collection utilizes standard knitting abbreviations and methods, including techniques such as B&T (break off yarn), which involves breaking yarn and threading it through remaining stitches on the needle before pulling tightly to fasten off – a common finishing technique for small garments.
The patterns incorporate decreasing techniques to shape garments appropriately for doll proportions. Neckband construction on the dress uses a smaller needle size (3.00mm) to create a neat, finished edge.
Yarn: All patterns are designed using DK weight yarn. The original designs were created with Stylecraft Style DK yarn, though any DK weight yarn in appropriate colors will work for this project.
Yarn Quantities by Garment:
Needles: Three needle sizes are required: 3.00mm, 3.50mm, and 4.00mm knitting needles. Smaller needles create tighter gauge for finishing details like neckbands, while larger needles are used for main fabric sections.
The collection requires various small fasteners and notions appropriate for doll-sized garments:
The patterns support multi-color knitting with three color options referenced: Color 1 (red), Main Color (white), and Color 3 (blue). This allows crafters to create striped or color-blocked designs across the wardrobe pieces.
Rated as intermediate difficulty, this collection is ideal for knitters who have mastered basic stitches and simple garment construction. The small scale of doll clothing requires attention to detail and precision in gauge and shaping, but the individual pieces are manageable projects. Completing the entire wardrobe provides excellent practice in garment construction techniques while creating a cohesive collection of coordinating pieces.
