100% Wool, 50m (55yds)/50g (1.76oz), Super Chunky

Product Description

A great super chunky yarn for big cosy knits – like jumpers and bobble hats straight out of a Norwegian crime thriller. This 100% wool yarn is also feltable, for projects that need a little bit more structure, like bags and slippers. Stay warm with these wintry colours..

While the yarn content and specifications remain unchanged, the product name and ball band are being updated. During this transition, orders may include yarn with either the old or new label.

I used the super chunky 100% wool yarn. It's strong, easy to join securely, and works up smoothly. A 50g ball gives around 50m, so isn't too heavy. It's advertised as being feltable, which I think would be effective. It might be rather difficult to pull apart so may need cutting, although I haven't tried. The most favourable aspect of the multicoloured yarns are their vibrancy, and frequent self-striping colour changes. This has become my favourite wool and will definitely buy again.

I have bought this brand before and it is absolutely gorgeous. Being an amateur knitter who is an expert at squares and rectangles, this wool is fabulously chunky without being a bit of a handful. Love it!

Amazing market place

Very very soft and easy to work, iit scrolls very well over the hook (crochet). It twists quite easily and because it is composed by lots of small threads, it is very easy to accidentally pick one of the previous rows: for example, I needed to undo a row and I noticed it got tangled and created a knot. At the end I had to break few threads in order to untangle properly. It was my mistake, but it is much more delicate than normal wool and can break easily if pulled quite strong

Amazing market place

It is very soft and easy to work with, and it glides smoothly over the crochet hook. However, because it consists of many small, loosely twisted threads, it is quite prone to splitting. It is very easy to accidentally catch one of the individual strands from a previous row. For instance, when I had to frog (undo) a row, the yarn tangled and formed a tight knot, forcing me to cut a few threads to untangle it properly. While that was partly my fault, this yarn is much more delicate than standard...

Excited to crochet with this yarn

The vibrant colour attracted me first. It feels really soft, so I am hoping it will crochet up nice. I'm using it for a Chunky Mesh Cardigan. I’ll be following a pattern, and I know it will crochet up quick once I get started. I haven’t made anything yet.

Beautiful yarn

Wonderful colour choices and it knits up quickly. For pure wool it is very reasonably priced. I have made double blankets in most of the colours including 3 small cat blankets.

It’s a small ball but you’re buying quality yearn. If you’re doing tight stitches it becomes a very strong material.
