Product Details

This is a patchwork blanket featuring one of Dutch graphic artist M. C. Escher´s famous tessellations.

The fish are knit separately and sewn together later. They are shaped by different stitch patterns (rib pattern, seed stitch, garter stitch) as well as short rows which is all written down in two charts.

An illustrated appendix explains all techniques used including sewing together the fish and cutting/steeking. To save ink you might decide to print the pattern directions only, i.e. pages 1-8 (and not the appendix).

The straight edges of the blanket are formed by cutting. This is not as scary as it sounds. - The minimal number to cut the fish is 12 fish for a rectangular shape and 24 for a square. If you do not mind off-setting your fish after cutting, you can make it work for 6 fish as well. But this is a bit tricky to do and I highly recommend to practise on a paper model.

Finally a stocking stitch edging makes for a perfect finish.

The sample was worked in Till Kampes. A substitute yarn is shown below.
