The Long and Winding Road
The Long and Winding Road often attracts people because it has some resemblance to ‘log cabin’ although the method is completely different.
The clever construction is very simple. You only use one yarn at a time to knit stripes. It is made in four sections, then stitched together.
The original used approximately 1800 metres of dark blue Aran and 1400 metres of light blue and measures is approximately 160 cm (64 inches) by 125 cm (50 inches). Any yarn can be used and the size can be adjusted to make the size you want.
The pattern is suitable for beginners and experienced knitters. You can use any yarn and do not have to work to a particular gauge.
The instructions include several variations and, as with all our afghan designs, a 'colouring-in sheet so that you can keep track of your own colourways and record your progress.
