Product Description
"Texan Muffler" is a unisex reversible sampler style scarf, featuring different textured patterns along it's length. They are all simple patterns using just basic knit and purl stitches and would suit an adventurous beginner - the different textures help it fly off your needles really quickly!
It measures approx. 7” wide by 70” long, after it has been gently blocked. (Before blocking, with the suggested yarn, it was closer to 60” long.) But the length can be very easily adjusted to suit whatever your preferred scarf length is by increasing or deceasing the number of repeats within each stitch pattern. (Details within pattern.)
Designed with a good quality warm yarn in mind, I went for Drops as they are also good value - it also gave really good stitch definition.
It could be made up in a thicker yarn if you prefer to give a really bulky scarf - or join the ends together to form a cowl.
For a more feminine look, try adding tassels.

The pattern requires approximately 200 grams of yarn total, equivalent to five 50-gram balls (each containing 73 meters). Alternatively, 200 grams of Aran weight acrylic yarn may be substituted. Knitting needles should be 5mm in size. Additional notions include a stitch marker to designate the right side of the fabric. Tension is not critical for this project as long as stitching remains even throughout, making it forgiving for knitters still developing consistent tension control.
