Product Details
The Staircase Trail Hat is a fast knit with a classic result. This hat is worked in the round with a garter stitch band and cables to the crown.
The pattern includes five sizes; 16 – 22½ inches in circumference. Since the garter stitch band is not at stretchy as a ribbed band, choose a size that is at least one inch smaller than the circumference of the wearer’s head.
The hat is shown in Jorstad Creek’s Marrowstone, a 4-ply DK superwash merino. An adult size hat uses about 150 yards. A few of the other yarns that would work well with this pattern are

I would choose a DK yarn with a lot of wool so there is stretchiness in the garter stitch band.
