Product Description

Scarecrow is knit in the round, using Magic Loop or double pointed needles. The legs, body, arms and head are all knit on as you work along, and is approx. 10” (sitting). Scarecrow is created using #4-Worsted Wt. (Aran/10-ply) yarn: Body & “Hay” (190 yds. Red Heart Super Saver-Cornmeal), Jacket (130 yds. Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice-Terracotta), Pants (120 yds. Big Twist-Navy Blue Denim), Hat (70 yds. Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice-Toffee), Shoes (50 yds. Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice-Toffee). This darling scarecrow sits freely and would be a wonderful decoration for fall!

· Size 4 (3.5mm) 32” Circular Knitting Needles (if using Magic Loop) or Double Pointed Needles (for Body & Shoes)

· Size 6 (4.0mm) 32” Circular Knitting Needles (if using Magic Loop) or Double Pointed Needles (for Clothes & Hat)

· Safety Eyes: 12mm or embroidery thread/yarn

· 2 Buttons (3/8”-1/2”)

· Crochet Hook (for attaching pieces of “hay”)

Lovely pattern

I am working through this scarecrow pattern at present, I have avoided using circular needles for the past 50 years but as this pattern was so cute and just right for my next project I have persevered and glad I did as its working out great. I find it amazing as you knit the arms and legs first, knit the legs together and continue in the round working up the body, adding the arms in and continue knitting up. Excellent yarn purchased to knit a scarecrow for our village annual scarecrow festival. The yarn is washable, easy to handle and gives excellent stitch definition. The scarecrow will have pride of place at an exhibition of knitted toys which will run for the duration of the festival.
