Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK is a 100% cotton double knit with the crisp, dry handle that makes every stitch read clearly. Paintbox Yarns is our own brand, designed in house.
Ideal for colourful stripes, intarsia, fair isle or knitted toys. Cotton has no memory and no halo, so nothing blurs: single crochet sits square, cables and textured knits keep their edges, and colourwork stays sharp instead of softening at the joins. It is a standard choice for amigurumi and toys, where a tight fabric with no fuzz is the whole point, and equally for summer tops, market bags, dishcloths and baby blankets that need to survive a hot wash.
The palette is built to be mixed. Shades are developed as a coordinated range rather than a set of one-offs, so stripes, granny squares and intarsia can be planned across the whole collection without hunting for matches.

I loved the colour and the feel of it. There’s something about crocheting with cotton. I made myself a patterned top. It looks good, I just need to block it to improve it even more.
Not impressed
It was my first time using this yarn and I was not impressed. It is very thin, too stretchy, and knits up inconsistently. The increases on the ends of the rows caused holes even though I tried two different increasing methods, undoing my work both times to try to see if I could solve the issue. I would not buy this yarn again and I do not recommend it for sweaters. I am using it for a child’s sweater and the pattern was made with a cotton DK.

Great to work with- yarn soft but not splitting during use. Currently crocheting a blanket but will also work well for toys and knitted items. Only slight drawback for baby items might be the ‘do not tumble dry’
I’ve used Paintbox for many years. I lave the skin tone colors for making. Knitted Knockers. The stitch definition is awesome. I’ve tried other yarns but keep returning to PAINTBOX!! Delivery time was exceptional and well packaged.
I really enjoyed crocheting with it. The yarn was smooth on my hook, unlike some other cotton yarns I've used in the past. I used it to make a tapestry it turned out amazing!!

Superb cotton yarn both for knitting and wearing
Having previously tried and tested this yarn, I’m knitting another larger cardigan for my granddaughter. It’s a very cool on the fingers yarn with which to knit. It also washes and wears well after frequent use. Would highly recommend for our warmer temperatures!
Dk cotton yarn
I purchased the dk cotton yarn and have found it good to work with with no knots or frays as you go down the ball of the yarn. Competitively priced and a choice of colours it's perfect.
This was my first time using this yarn and I love it! I’m making a very large crochet blanket. It’s very soft but sturdy and I think the blanket will hold up well once I finish it. Also love that there are so many colors. I ordered about twenty different ones, fifty five balls total, and it worked great. I’d definitely buy this again.
