Product Description

This pattern is designed for the ages/sizes given, however it is possible to scale up or down to make larger or smaller sizes. UK crochet terms given.

The hexagon jacket pattern is mostly created using a series of trebles and chains, and constructed from several granny square and hexagon panels. If you are a confident beginner, with knowledge of making granny squares, you will hopefully find the pattern easy to use.

The pattern uses written instructions - currently there are no charts included, for the granny squares or hexagons.

This is quite a “yarn-hungry” pattern as it is intended to be a chunky jacket. The largest size requires 10 x 50g balls, less if making in a solid colour instead of stripes. We used Drops Alaska in our test makes, which is a heavier Aran yarn, at 70m per ball. To give you an idea of fit, the child in the photo is aged 3yrs with a chest measurement of 55cm, and is wearing size 2-4yrs.

Sizes: 6-12m, 1-2yrs, 2-4yrs, 4-6yrs

Hook: 6mm

Buttons: 5 (6, 6, 6)

Lovely little jacket

I am really pleased with the way this jacket turned out. I do think the pattern could have had a bit more detail, for instance when it says attach to the left hand corner, is that the left as I’m looking at it or as if I was wearing it? I also had to do the cuffs a different way as I couldn’t get it right following the pattern, but that’s probably just me! I also ordered far too much yarn I made the 1-2 year and only needed one 100 gram ball of each of the four colours and still had some left....

Lovely little jacket

This is a super little jacket. I’m delighted with the result. The pattern was very straightforward and was a speedy make. I over ordered on wool so had enough to make a second jacket for my great niece. I will definitely be making more for my new granddaughter.

Love this pattern and have made three in quick succession and different colour ways Only thing that confused me was sewing the hood on - but that was soon sorted. Looks amazing with an oversized bobble on hood.
