The NESS TAM was the project from a very popular day workshop in 2017 and then a successful kit in 2018. Knitted in Jamieson's of Shetland SPINDRIFT, this tam is a good introduction to Fairisle knitting and is suitable for the beginner as it uses simple repeating patterns and is knitted in the round. The design uses 10 balls of SPINDRIFT (1 ball of each) and the colours are listed below:
Fog 272, Highland Mist 1390, Pacific 763, Paprika 261, Yellow Ochre 230, Bramble 155, Damask 567, Shaela 102, Sholmit 103, Tundra 190.
If knitting using circular needles that a 40cm fixed cable length is suggested for the main part of the tam, reducing down to 25cm fixed cable length and the double pointed needles for the crown.

This is such an easy pattern. I’d attempted Fair Isle before with disastrous results, but this pattern is easy to follow. Unfortunately, I had to go elsewhere for the yarn as LoveCrafts didn’t have it in stock at the time of purchase. As I wasn’t sufficiently experienced in this style of knitting, I didn’t have the confidence to swap yarns, but now that I’ve mastered the technique....!
