Just because it's warmed up is no reason to stop wearing hand-knits! This lightweight lacy cowl is a great use for that special skein of hand-dye or gradient set. Easy to work bands of eyelets alternate with short-row garter stitch sections and there's no purling until the final edge (3 rounds). Work it in a solid, in two colors, using a gradient kit, or in one of Miss Babs' crazy variegated colorways!
Skills required:
- Increasing
- Simple eyelet lace (yarn overs and decreases)
- Short rows in garter stitch
Measurements:
- Height in back – 7”
- Depth in front – 11”
- Circumference at top – 22”
- Circumference at bottom – 42”
The lower end of the yardage estimates are what was actually used for the samples. I normally add 10% to allow for differences in yardage consumption which is reflected in the upper end of the range.
Approximate yardage for gradient version:
- MC (lightest in sample) - 130-145 yards
- CC1 - 30-35 yards
- CC2 - 35-40 yards
- CC3 - 40-45 yards
- CC4 - 40-45 yards
- Total yardage - 275-310 yards
