Product Details
This magical, fairy themed design was inspired by a pretty skein of yarn. In my mind, the colour of the yarn made me think of fluttery fairy wings.
I knew that a lace pattern would help enhance the magic like qualities of the yarn, so I used a traditional Shetland motif. Worked in panels down the length of the sock it brings to mind the tiny wings of these magical creatures.
The gentle rhythm of the stitch pattern make this design the perfect comfort knit, and it would look wonderful in a tonal or speckled yarn.
I added a fun contrast heel, with a comfy square turn. The design is completed with my Umbrella Toe, which has become a firm favourite with sock knitters.
The pattern is both written and charted and is designed for magic loop, although it can easily be worked with double pointed needles.
I used my own hand dyed yarn in the colourway 'Fairy Wings', along with a small amount of Fine Fish Yarns in the colourway 'Fairycakes' for the heels.
