Crochet Macramé Curtain by Midknits

What Is Being Made

The Crochet Macramé Curtain is a decorative home accent piece inspired by macramé design and Modern Boho Chic aesthetics. This versatile project functions as either a window curtain or wall hanging, measuring approximately 77 inches wide by 6 inches tall (excluding fringe), with the finished height extending to approximately 7 inches when fringe is attached. The piece is worked side-to-side, allowing crafters to easily adjust the width to suit their specific needs.

Techniques and Construction

This intermediate-level crochet project combines traditional crochet stitching with macramé-inspired design elements to create an open, airy textile suitable for interior decoration. The pattern is worked horizontally from side to side, which streamlines the process of achieving the desired width. The design features a repeating diamond motif that measures approximately 5½ inches wide, creating visual interest and texture throughout the piece. Fringe is added as a finishing detail to enhance the bohemian aesthetic and add movement to the completed curtain.

Stitches and Pattern Details

The pattern utilizes fundamental crochet stitches to construct the macramé-inspired openwork design. Complete stitch abbreviations and detailed written instructions are provided within the pattern. A chart is also included to supplement the written directions, offering visual guidance for those who prefer working from diagrams. This dual-instruction format makes the pattern accessible and straightforward to follow, even for intermediate-level crocheters.

Materials Required

  • Yarn: Bernat Maker Home Dec in Cream (color #11009), a #5 Bulky weight yarn. The project requires 7 balls, totaling 8.8 ounces (250 grams) or 317 yards (290 meters).
  • Hook: 7 mm crochet hook, or the size needed to obtain proper gauge as specified in the pattern.

Skill Level

Designed for intermediate crocheters, this project assumes familiarity with basic crochet techniques and the ability to read both written instructions and stitch charts. The side-to-side construction method and repeating diamond pattern make it a manageable project for those with some crochet experience.

have used you before and no complaints about purchase or delivery service

Always knits up lovely, have learnt to crochet during lock down, but found the pattern for a crochet curtain very complicated, probably to difficult for a beginner. Shall practice and try again when more proficient
