Eep, it's time to shape the toe! You're nearly finished and shaping the toe is easy as pie with our step-by-step guide.

Step 9: Shaping the toe step-by-step

1

Getting started. Amazingly, the stitches are split perfectly to work the toe decrease (it's like it was planned!)
With the top of the sock on one needle and the bottom of the sock on the other. You are now going to shape the toe by decreasing 1 stitch either end of the side of the sock on every alternate round. These 2 rows are worked as follows.

Pro Tip

Remember the decrease on the right of the side of the sock is worked 3 sts in as a K2tog, making the decrease slope to the right toward the centre. The decrease on the left of the side of the sock is worked 1 stitch in as a SSK, making the decrease slope to the left again toward the centre.

2

For round 1. K1, K2 tog, knit across stitches to last 3 stitches, SSK, K1 turn pull loop through. K1, K2 tog, knit across stitches to last 3 stitches SSK, K1, turn pull loop through.

3

For round 2. Knit next round.

4

Repeat. Repeat rounds 1 and 2, decreasing every alternate row until you have only 32 sts remain. (or the required amount of stitches depending on how shaped you want your toe of your sock to be. Make sure the number of stitches is even to allow the stitches to be divided into two for grafting the toe together).
