Sarah Hatton’s design features smart cables combined with broken ribbing to create a pattern that really stands out. She has added a split collar for a modern touch and has knitted her jumper using Rowan’s chunky Cocoon yarn, which comes in 24 sophisticated colours.

2. The autumnal pullover

This pullover shirt looks just as good working from home, as it does on a forest stroll. In seven sizes to knit in soft fingering yarn, the design features an openwork textured pattern in front, with set-in sleeves and back in sleek stockinette. The front placket, hem, and collar are knit in a coordinating rib. Try it with Fyberspates Scrumptious 4 Ply a glorious blend of merino wool and silk, for a warm touch against your skin.

Chic, feminine and neatly cropped, Robyn is the perfect polo for the country club, knitted in gorgeous Debbie Bliss Piper. This design from Marie's LAKELAND collection is a lovely fitted jumper with Celtic cabled sleeves. The optional crochet collar, in our opinion, makes the jumper. For us, we're going to opt for the beautiful merino wool and kid mohair blend of the Rowan Cocoon, but you can find a good alternative to knit it in with Cascade's 128 Superwash.

6. The breath of fresh air

This feminine, loose-fitting design was inspired by the vintage fashions of the 1920s, and particularly by the Bloomsbury Group of writers, artists and intellectuals. Its smock-style shape is decorated with a moss stitch diamond pattern, a deep open neck and collar, and split side hems. The project is knitted in Erika Knight's British Blue 100, which is a lustrous Bluefaced Leicester wool yarn.

7. The every day staple

A wide turtleneck and gorgeously rich centre cable draw you into this Debbie Bliss' Dunwich jumper. Raglan shaping and soft-as-sugar halo from the Aymara 100% baby alpaca yarn. Knitted flat and seamed, Dunwich is a gorgeous every day jumper that you just won't want to take off.

8. The fireside pullover

This classic pullover is knit top down, in the round, in quick-to-work chunky yarn. Begin with the shapely shawl collar and then pick up stitches for the yoke; ribbing hugs the upper body for a flattering fit over the shoulders and upper arms.

9. The beautiful renaissance

Late Bloom is a cosy jumper, designed to fit and flatter. The body is worked flat from the bottom up to the armholes, in stocking stitch with a reverse stocking stitch seam. The shawl collar is worked using picked up stitches and a couple of short row sections to give it extra volume.

If you're looking for a collared knit to brighten your wardrobe, this smart and stylish number will fit the bill. Knitted in Debbie Bliss Falkland Aran made from 100% wool fleece sourced from Falkland sheep, makes it warm and cosy for winter days. If you're looking for a substitute yarn, try Paintbox Wool Worsted in a fab range of colours, you'll need slightly larger needles, but it will work a treat and is machine-washable too.

14. The wrap and go

We can't wait to knit this cardi by knitbot / Hannah Fettig. Using larger needles for the second half of the collar gives this long cardi a beautiful wide, fold out collar. The whole garment is worked from the bottom up as one piece until you reach the underarm edge. The sleeves are worked separately and set it. Knitted in Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light, it's a glorious warm knit to throw on when the chills set in.
