Megan's picks

Megan’s picks are fabulous for makers who love colour and texture! Gorgeous Malabrigo Rasta, made, spun and hand-dyed in Uruguay is almost exclusively made by women. It’s a rich, plump super chunky yarn that would make a super fast finish scarf or hat!

There's not much that Berroco doesn't know about yarn, as one of the most established favourite yarn manufacturers in the US, they really know their stuff, so when Megan listed Berroco Comfort in her picks, we had to agree. This chainette worsted weight yarn is a super soft 50/50 acrylic and nylon blend, great for anyone with skin sensitivities, so it's a perfect all rounder, every day yarn.

Cascade 220 is an all time favourite and is a great 100% wool yarn for making the most of this year's colour trends - with a whopping 150 shades to choose from, you'll be able to mix and match for colour blocks and pantone shades all year long! There are some rich solid shades, and gorgeous marled colours too.

Megan's eye for colour has included Lion Brand Mandala on her list, a fabulous self striping explosion of shades from pastels to brights! Mandala comes in a super quick bulky weight too, Lion Brand Mandala Thick & Quick, for when you just can't wait to see those colours changing.

The last yarn on Megan's list is a treat for yarnies everywhere - Knit Collage is a brand that makes the most exquisite fibre combinations for really unique projects. Beautiful, roving style thick and thin yarns in a super chunky weight, chock full of sparkles and softness.

Nicky's picks

If you're knitting or crocheting for babies, Nicky has a couple of favourites just for you, a couple of luxury yarns and a super fast chunky for great fashion projects!

Sirdar Snuggly DK is a super popular baby yarn, at a great price - it's washable, easycare and so soft for baby skin. In over 30 colours, it is a fabulous choice for all those little tiny cardigans, dresses, rompers and blankets and there are lots of patterns for this every day fave, and its sister yarn Sirdar Snuggly 4ply. Next on the list, another DK that's just a little bit more luxurious - Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk DK is a deliciously soft combination of merino wool and silk with a hint of cashmere for extra warmth and softness. In a gently muted palette, this is a yarn that works equally well for babies, children and grownup patterns, and you can wash it at 30 degrees! There is a print version too, illustrated in our header image! We love Anna Nikipirowicz's Love in every stitch blanket, in this beautiful yarn!

Next, a chunky yarn that lots of you will absolutely adore - Stylecraft Special Chunky, one of the most popular on site! In 44 shades, this every day chunky works up fast for quick projects like the little Owl Gloves, above.

For more luxurious yarns for special projects, Nicky has picked gorgeous West Yorkshire Spinners Illustrious, a heady blend of Falkland wool and alpaca, which is a DK weight and just delicious for shawls and sweaters. The shades are absolutely beautiful, both solid and marled. For luxury in a lighter weight, Cascade Yarns Sorata is a delectable blend of llama and silk, a 4ply dream of softness and swish, perfect for shawls whether you are a knitter or a crocheter!
