This C2C blanket was originally intended as a Christmas present, but it took quite a bite more time to make than I had anticipated. On the longest C2C row, I had about 34 color changes. With my suspended funnel system and yarn ball winder, I was able to change colors and manage the yarn beautifully. I loved my setup and am so pleased with what my husband and I devised. I saved tucking all of the yarn ends until the end which was a bit painful. I took a photo after tucking ends for 2 hours because I couldn't believe how furry the backside still looked. The finished dimensions are 5'8" by 5'4". We created the yarn rig by using inexpensive 4” plastic funnels we found on Amazon. I hammered push pins into a 24” x 1” x 1” piece of wood (found it in my garage). To keep the funnels secure on the push pins, I used small binder clips. We used picture frame wire to hang the board from eyelet screws. I found the yarn ball winder on Amazon, and it makes perfect yarn cakes to sit in the funnels.

Hi Cheryl, I tried to buy the pattern, but the pattern and the seller is not available on Etsy. Is there maybe another way to get hold of the seller?
Whew!!! It looks like a whole lotta work! I hope your son appreciated how amazing this is and how talented you are. I want to do something C2C but I can't find any easy patterns I like. :t Haha, oh well. I'll keep looking. Anyway! Wonderful, wonderful job!!!
WOW, this is so impressive - both the finished blanket and the setup. Fantastic job on this!!!
It's a bittersweet moment. My son is away on his 2nd year of college and I still cry when he goes away.
Awesome! Great job! You're son will definitely love it. Love how you setup the yarn.
I plan to add notes and pictures of my setup later today in case anyone wants to know. I had to figure it all out myself. At a minimum, it will be a nice reference for myself if I can't remember for a future project. My husband wants a Star Wars Villains C2C blanket!!
Think we can safely say it is truly a labour of love. I have no idea how you managed from a cross stitch pattern into a C2C. Simply splendid!
Thanks so very much for all of your feedback. I can honestly say that I was miserable until we figured out this setup. I spent more time untangling yarn and hand wrapping yarn balls than actually crocheting. I had 10 different yarn colors and used double strands of DK yarn. The yarn rig was hung from the ceiling beams. When I would take breaks, we would take it down and just drop everything into a laundry basket.
Amazing! It needs patience and affords to work with that much yarn.
Wowsers this is amazing! Your son is going to be so happy with this. Your invention looks to be a work of art in itself 😂
