Yabane is inspired by a traditional Japanese arrow feather pattern (“yabane”). The body of this sweater is worked seamlessly in circular knitting in one piece to the underarms. Front and back are worked separately above underarms. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Sleeves are worked separately and attached at the end. Collar stitches are picked up and knitted once back and front are joined at the shoulders.
The sample was knit in Artesano Aran. A substitute yarn is shown below.

Pleasing design of actual stitches in the pattern although it’s knitted in the round. I halved it for both the front and back and did sleeves on normal needles. I also typed up the pattern rather than follow the graph which is far too complicated. Why so? Not everyone likes them. Far easier to follow K1 P1 in a knitting pattern.
So far so good. I haven't finished it yet. I have found the pattern easy to follow but some abbreviations are not explained so the pattern will suit a more experienced knitter. I love knitting in the round because I hate sewing.
