Product Description
Sometimes all that’s needed is a little scarf to show off that wonderful single skein of fingering weight yarn. Combine it with easy to remember shaping and easily adjusted sizing, and we have a definite winner! It doesn’t hurt either that the loopy i-cord bind off is perfect for using up odds and ends.
Whiskey on the Rocks is an asymmetrical triangle or “boomerang” shawl worked sideways on the bias in one piece. The instructions for the body with the eyelet patterning are provided both charted and written out.

What is Being Made
Whiskey on the Rocks is an asymmetrical triangle shawl, also known as a "boomerang" shawl, designed to showcase a single skein of fingering weight yarn. This downloadable knitting pattern creates a versatile scarf or shawl that works beautifully as a statement piece or practical layering garment. The design features easy-to-remember shaping with adjustable sizing options, making it an excellent project for knitters looking to use up premium yarn in a sophisticated construction.
Construction and Shaping Techniques
The shawl is worked sideways on the bias in one continuous piece, which creates the distinctive asymmetrical triangle silhouette. The pattern employs strategic increases worked on both right-side and wrong-side rows to build the triangular shape, while decreases are incorporated once every six rows to maintain balance and control the fabric's drape. A two-stitch garter stitch edging is maintained throughout the body of the shawl, providing a clean, finished frame for the central pattern.
Stitch Patterns and Details
The body of Whiskey on the Rocks features a simple eyelet patterning that adds visual interest and texture to the finished piece. Pattern instructions are provided in both charted and written-out formats, allowing knitters to choose their preferred method of following the design. The pattern concludes with a loopy i-cord bind off, which is specifically designed to use up remaining yarn and odds and ends, eliminating waste and adding a decorative finishing touch to the shawl edges.
