Turqua Spring Wreath - Crochet Pattern
Project Overview
The Turqua Spring Wreath is a beginner-friendly crochet decoration designed by Alexandra EyeLoveKnots. This decorative wreath project combines multiple colorways to create a spring-inspired wall hanging featuring hydrangea-style flowers arranged on a circular base. The finished piece is mounted on a 6-inch white wood letter, making it a versatile home décor accent suitable for seasonal display.
What Is Being Made
This pattern creates a decorative wreath with a structured base and dimensional floral elements. The design incorporates a gray wreath foundation paired with turquoise flowers and green foliage, inspired by the popular hydrangea wreath aesthetic. The finished wreath is affixed to a wooden letter form, creating a mixed-media decoration that combines crochet with wood elements.
Materials Required
- Yarn: 300 yards total of worsted weight yarn in three colorways:
- 185 yards in Soapstone (gray) for the wreath base
- Approximately 55 yards in Turqua (blue) for the flowers
- Approximately 25 yards in Tea Leaf (green) for the leaves
- Hook: H8/5mm crochet hook
- Notions: Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Additional Supplies: 6-inch white wood letter for mounting the finished wreath
Yarn Details
The pattern specifies Red Heart's Super Saver yarn line, a durable and affordable worsted weight option. The three colorways used—Soapstone, Turqua, and Tea Leaf—are selected from this same yarn line, ensuring consistent fiber content and texture throughout the project. Worsted weight yarn creates a sturdy, well-defined fabric suitable for dimensional decorative elements.
Crochet Techniques and Stitches
As a beginner-level project, the Turqua Spring Wreath uses fundamental crochet techniques accessible to newer crafters. While the specific stitch pattern is not detailed in the available materials, the construction method involves creating a circular wreath base and separate floral components that are assembled together. The dimensional flower elements suggest the use of techniques such as petal shaping and layered construction to achieve the hydrangea-inspired aesthetic.
Construction Method
The wreath is built in components: the gray base forms the foundation ring, while the turquoise flowers and green leaves are crocheted separately and then arranged and attached to the base. This modular approach allows crafters to control flower placement and density, making the design customizable. The finished crochet wreath is then secured to the white wood letter form, combining traditional crochet with a decorative wooden element.
Skill Level
Rated as a beginner project, the Turqua Spring Wreath is suitable for crocheters new to the craft or those seeking a straightforward seasonal decoration project. The beginner classification suggests the pattern uses basic stitches and simple shaping techniques without complex color changes or advanced construction methods.
