Sun Flare Shawl

The Sun Flare shawl is a half-circle shawl that incorporates twisted stitches, cables, lace and a Japanese smocked stitch called a lifted over knot stitch. Recommended bead placement is marked in the written instructions and the charts. Beads are optional. More or fewer beads may be placed as desired.

The pattern is fully charted, includes full written instructions, and includes over 20 video technique links for the specialty stitches!

Any fingering or heavy lace weight yarn with good stitch definition and that blocks well should work well for this pattern. The sample used 563 Miyuki Triangle Beads Size 5/0.

Techniques

twisted stitches: knit and purl through the back loop

cable stitches: 1/1 left and right, 1/2 left and right, 1/1/1 left, right, and centered

star stitches: working increases into decreases
