What is Being Made

The Sommertag Sweater is a lightweight knitted pullover sweater designed by independent designer Anja Heumann. This garment is crafted to fit bust circumferences ranging from 34 to 52 inches (85 to 130 cm), with ten different size options available. The sweater is shown in size 3 and features a contemporary summer design suitable for warm weather wear. The pattern recommends approximately 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm) of positive ease for a comfortable, relaxed fit.

Techniques Used

This knitting project employs fundamental techniques appropriate for beginner-level knitters. The sweater is constructed using circular needles, allowing for seamless knitting in the round. Knitters have the flexibility to use either the Magic Loop method or double-pointed needles (DPNs) for working the sleeves. Yardage requirements range from 350 grams (1,050 yards) for the smallest sizes to 650 grams (1,950 yards) for the largest sizes. The pattern is worked in the colorway Lyse Rosa (3511).

Needles: US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles for ribbed edgings and US 6 / 4.0 mm circular needles for the main body and stockinette stitch sections. Double-pointed needles in US 6 / 4.0 mm are optional for sleeve construction if not using the Magic Loop technique.

Additional Notions: Eight removable stitch markers for tracking pattern repeats and shaping, a tapestry needle for weaving in ends and seaming, and scissors.

Gauge and Finishing
