What is Being Made

The Slipdash Hat is a knitted hat designed to showcase self-striping sock yarn in a way that justifies using premium fingering weight yarn beyond traditional sock projects. This hat is an ideal stash-busting project for knitters who have accumulated specialty sock yarn but want to create something other than socks. The design comes in five sizes: Baby, Child, Teen, Adult Small, and Adult Large, with finished head circumferences of 16, 18, 20, 3.5, and additional measurements to accommodate various ages and head sizes.

• Needles: US 1 (2.25 mm) needles for ribbing and US 2.5 (3.0 mm) needles for the main pattern, or sizes as needed to obtain proper gauge. Circular needles are recommended for working in the round.
• Notions: One stitch marker and a yarn needle for weaving in ends.
• Gauge: 32 stitches and 44 rounds measure 4 inches (10 centimeters) in the slip-stitch pattern on US 2.5 (3.0 mm) needles.
