What is Being Made
The ROCAS shawl is a knitted accessory designed by Gretha Mensen that combines graphic visual interest with textural variety and color play. Named after the mineral-inspired colorways of Wol met Verve yarn, this shawl features a dynamic construction that allows knitters to customize their finished piece through color choices. The design accommodates multiple aesthetic approaches: knitters can create a subtle gradient effect, experiment with contrasting hues, or explore the understated beauty of a single-color interpretation.
Techniques and Construction
The ROCAS shawl employs a lively sequence of varying stitches throughout different sections, creating visual and textural interest across the piece. The design is punctuated with lines of lace dots that add delicate openwork details to the overall structure. This combination of stitch variation and lace elements makes the shawl visually engaging while remaining accessible to knitters at the beginner difficulty level.
