Ringhiera

The original idea for this little hat came from a visit to the Palazzo Reale in Milan, the former royal palace which now hosts art exhibitions. The palace was heavily bombarded during WWII and some of its parts had to be rebuilt in a modern style. While leaving the palace after seeing a couple exhibitions I climbed down a staircase that had a 1950’s very modern and interesting handrail that made me think of a cabled hat (talk about seeing knitting everywhere…).

The hat is knitted in Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted, which can withstand machine washing but will not dramatically loose all shape after washing, and does not have that shiny, gummy look that some cheap superwash yarns have. The pattern is available in two versions: a shorter beanie and a longer stocking hat.

The hat is knitted seamlessly from the bottom up un circular needles.
