Pelorus

Intricate networks of interlacing cables adorn this cozy cap. The crown shaping, integrated into the cable patterning, creates a round motif at the top of the hat, which reminds me of an antique maritime compass and gives the name for this piece – a pelorus is a type of compass used for marine navigation.

Finished Measurements  17”/44 cm brim circumference.  8”/20 cm height from base of ribbing to top center of crown.  Measurements are taken after blocking.  Fits average adult head sizes 20-21”/51-53 cm.

Yarn  Approximately 160 yds/146 m of worsted weight yarn.  1 skein of Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash Merino (100%  Superwash Merino Wool, 220 yds/200 m in 100 g); #05 Golden Yellow.

Needles  Size US 8/5 mm and size US 6/4 mm: 16”/40 cm circular.  One set of double-pointed needles, size US 8/5 mm.

Gauge  28 stitches and 26 rounds = 4”/10 cm on size US 8/5 mm needles over Body Chart after blocking.
