Product Description
Worked in the round, this pattern provides both cuff-down and toe-up instructions for a seamless sock, accompanied by charts for pattern motif. While the pattern comes with instructions for a peasant heel (afterthought heel using scrap yarn), it’s adaptable to your personal preferences and unique feet. Links for alternative heels have been included!
With multiple sizes, you can easily achieve the perfect fit with the intended negative ease. I’ve written this sock pattern with magic loop in mind. However, you can also work on double-pointed needles instead if you’d prefer (just use extra markers to denote the instep and sole stitches).
To further assist you, a link is provided that contains additional resources, such as a yarn substitutes and a technique playlist. These tools give you everything you need to create your masterpiece confidently.
Pass the Maple Syrup Socks by rhyFlower Knits
What is Being Made
Pass the Maple Syrup is a seamless sock pattern designed by Melinda Measor of rhyFlower Knits. This downloadable PDF provides complete instructions for knitting a pair of socks worked in the round, available in multiple sizes to achieve the perfect fit with intended negative ease.
Construction Methods and Techniques
The pattern is worked entirely in the round, eliminating the need for seaming. Knitters have flexibility in their approach with two construction options provided:
- Cuff-down construction: Begin at the cuff and work downward toward the toe
- Toe-up construction: Start at the toe and work upward toward the cuff
The pattern features a peasant heel (also called an afterthought heel), which uses scrap yarn during the initial knitting and is completed after the main sock is finished. This technique allows for easy customization, and the pattern includes links to alternative heel options for knitters who prefer different heel styles.
The pattern is specifically designed with magic loop method in mind, a technique that uses a single long circular needle to work small circumferences. However, the pattern is fully adaptable to double-pointed needles as well, with guidance on using extra markers to denote instep and sole stitches for proper stitch management.
Stitches and Pattern Details
The sock features a pattern motif that is presented in chart form, allowing knitters to follow the design visually. The specific stitch abbreviations and pattern repeats are detailed within the PDF instructions, making it accessible for knitters at the beginner level.
Materials
Pass the Maple Syrup is designed for 4-ply yarn weight, which is ideal for creating socks with good stitch definition and durability. The pattern requires circular needles (either magic loop style or double-pointed needles) appropriate for 4-ply yarn, along with stitch markers and scrap yarn for the afterthought heel technique. The PDF includes links to yarn substitutes, allowing knitters to choose alternatives that suit their preferences and budget.
Skill Level and Support
Rated as a beginner-friendly pattern, Pass the Maple Syrup includes comprehensive resources to support knitters new to sock construction. The pattern provides access to a technique playlist and additional learning materials, ensuring knitters have the guidance needed to successfully complete their project.
