Oya Flowers

There are 8 patterns for flowers along with a couple of variations shown in step-by-step tutorials, 3 ways of making necklaces / bracelets/head decorations, as well as useful tips on using crochet / embroidery thread in making these lovelies. In making the oya for this tutorial I mainly used my 1.7 mm hook (USA: 5/ UK-), even for the crochet thread which according to the label required smaller hook. Please bear in mind that smaller hooks work magic with crochet thread and the look of the oya would be more compact, sturdy and appears “tighter” (see pictures on this page), whereas with cotton, the look is more softer and not as sturdy. To make the oyas, I used embroidery thread, embroidery floss, crochet thread (different sizes) and even sport yarn.

Stitches: chain (ch), chain space (ch-space), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), picot. American terminology used.
