Product Description

Nasrin is worked seamlessly from the top down. First some short rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck and then the yoke is worked in the round to sleeve separation. Nasrin Handknit Sweater by Isabell Kraemer

What is Being Made

Nasrin is a handknit sweater design created by independent designer Isabell Kraemer. This downloadable knitting pattern produces a finished garment suitable for intermediate-level knitters seeking a classic pullover sweater with refined construction techniques.

Craft and Primary Technique

This design is created using the knitting craft, which is both the primary and sole technique employed throughout the pattern. The sweater is constructed through traditional hand knitting methods, making it an ideal project for those with foundational knitting experience who are ready to advance their skills.

Stitches and Stitch Techniques

Nasrin incorporates several specialized knitting techniques to create its finished structure:

  • Double Stitch Resolution: The pattern includes instructions for resolving double stitches (DS), which are worked by knitting through both legs of the double stitch on right-side (RS) rows and purling through both legs on wrong-side (WS) rows. This technique treats what would otherwise be two stitches as a single unified stitch.
  • Backwards Loop Cast-On: The pattern uses the backwards loop cast-on method to establish the initial stitches, a technique that creates a flexible edge suitable for garment construction.
  • Lifted Increases: Right-leaning lifted increases (rli) and left-leaning lifted increases (lli) are employed throughout the pattern to shape the sweater while maintaining visual continuity in the fabric.

Yarn and Materials

Nasrin is designed to be worked in 4-ply yarn weight, offering excellent stitch definition and a refined finished fabric. The pattern accommodates multiple yarn options:

  • Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk Vilje: Approximately 410 yards (375 meters) per 100 grams, shown in the colorway Melert lys grå (light gray melange) for the main color (MC)
  • Sølje: Approximately 383 yards (350 meters) per 100 grams, shown in color 2103 Cognac for the contrasting color (CC)
  • Kauni 8/2 Solids and Effect Yarns: Approximately 656 yards (600 meters) per 150 grams, shown in colors HH1 (MC) and EB (CC), offering an alternative yarn choice with different yardage specifications

Yardage Requirements

Main color (MC) yardage ranges across multiple sizes, beginning at approximately 1039 yards for the smallest size and extending to 1942 yards for the largest size, with intermediate quantities of 1149, 1236, 1334, 1443, 1589, 1675, and 1783 yards for the various size options available in the pattern.

Difficulty Level

This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for knitters who have mastered basic knitting techniques and are prepared to work with specialized stitch methods, shaping techniques, and multi-color construction.
