Product Description
These elegantly cabled mittens are knitted sideways, in rows. They feature horizontal cables that can be used as thumbholes. The pattern is derived from a crochet pattern, my "Himbeerwellen". I used to think that horzontal cables (which I invented for crochet) were too fiddly to knit --- you'd need way too many cable needles. When I looked at knooking instructions, I realized that lifelines are the solution. So, this pattern came to life and horizontal cables are invented for knitting --- and this is the first ever pattern featuring them.
The pattern includes written instructions and step-by-step picture tutorials for horizontal cables.
size: The pattern is written for size S/ M. The elastic stitch used makes the mittens fit most hands. Instructions are given to adjust the size to larger or smaller hands.
skills: You need to know how to do garter stitch, how to handle lifelines and how to graft in garter stitch.
The pattern is available in English and in German (11 pages each).
