Each finished pumpkin measures approximately 3 inches in diameter and 3½ inches in height, making them ideal for display on shelves, in bowls, or as part of autumn table settings. The pattern offers six different charted colorwork designs, allowing crafters to create a variety of unique pumpkins. Materials: Yarn and Needles

The sample pumpkin was worked using Cascade 220 Superwash Sport in Black (Sport/5 ply weight; 100% Merino; 136 yards per 50g) paired with Shibui Knits Staccato in Pollen (Fingering/4 ply weight; 70% Merino, 30% Silk; 191 yards per 50g). Two skeins of approximately 100 yards each are recommended, though the finished mini pumpkin uses considerably less yarn than this amount.

Knitting is worked on US size 1 (2.25 mm) double-pointed needles at a gauge of 34 stitches over 4 inches (10 cm) in colorwork pattern. The use of small-gauge needles and fingering-weight yarn creates the tight, detailed fabric necessary for crisp colorwork definition and appropriate sizing for these miniature decorative pieces.
